Tour Plan

so your flight gets in. cairo airport is mental fyi. but we got someone waiting inside for you with a sign. your name on it. cant miss him. he grabs you and your bags. walks you out to a private car. aircon thank god. no sharing with randoms.

drive to the hotel in giza. check in is smooth. we do all the boring stuff. you just get your key. drop your bags. maybe sit down for a sec because airports are exhausting.

welcome drink is there. have it. chill out. maybe glance at the schedule so you know what time we pick you up tomorrow. but honestly you can just ask in the morning.

thats it. no tours. no stress. just get settled.

night in cairo.

morning. breakfast. then we go.

guide meets you at the hotel. we drive straight to giza.

first up is the big one. cheops. 4500 years old. like actually think about that for a second. you get time to walk around it. take photos. do the whole tourist thing.

you can go inside if you want. costs extra. its tight and narrow and not great if you dont like small spaces. but some people love it. your call.

then we hit chephren. his sons pyramid. a bit smaller out of respect i guess. then mycerinus. the smallest one. from up on the plateau you get the full view of all three. sick.

camel ride is optional. but honestly when are you gonna get another chance? just do it.

sphinx next. bigger than you think. 73 meters long. carved from one piece of stone. lion body human head. just sits there. been there forever. mad.

valley temple is right in front of the sphinx. this is where they did that weird ceremony for the mummy. opening of the mouth they called it. so the dead person could eat and speak in the afterlife. wild stuff.

then we drive to memphis. about 35 mins. old capital. king menes united the country here way back when. open air museum with some proper old artifacts.

then saqqara. this place is packed with pyramids. 11 royal ones. plus mastaba tombs for the nobles. the step pyramid here is the oldest pyramid in the world. first stone building ever. imhotep designed it. legend.

we also go inside the pyramid of teti. walls covered in hieroglyphs and cartouches. then we check out one of the nobles tombs. paintings everywhere. farming. hunting. daily life stuff. colourful.

breakfast. then we hit the road.

two and a half hours to alexandria. we stop halfway for a break. stretch your legs. grab a coffee.

alexandrias a whole different vibe honestly. way more chill than cairo. feels like youre not even in egypt sometimes. like more mediterranean if that makes sense. the sea helps. alexander the great founded the place way back in like 332 bc. so its got history obviously. but it just feels different. less chaos. more sea breeze. nice change of pace.

first thing we see is pompeys pillar. big old column. built in like 297 bc which is mental when you think about it. they put it up for this emperor diocletian. apparently he crushed some revolt in alexandria and they were like hey lets build a massive pillar for the guy. standard roman stuff. its huge though. like you see it from ages away. worth a look.

then the catacombs of kom el shokkafa. discovered in 1900. one of the biggest roman burial sites. underground. kinda spooky but cool.

drive along the coast to the citadel of qaitbay. built on the ruins of the ancient lighthouse of alexandria. one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. location is insane. right at the end of a strip of land sticking out into the harbour.

bibliotheca of alexandria. modern version of the ancient library. once the biggest research centre in the world. stunning building honestly.

lunch. seafood. non negotiable. you cant come to alexandria and not eat seafood. fresh. local. by the sea.
