You begin in Luxor, you know the place people call the world’s greatest open air museum. First you wander around Karnak Temple , then Luxor Temple, after that you visit the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and of course the Colossi of Memnon. Only once you’ve done all that do you actually set sail, drifting along the Nile like it’s supposed to be.
As you travel farther south, you’ll step into Edfu to see the Temple of Horus, surprisingly well preserved, and later stop at Kom Ombo. That one is a kind of special double temple, dedicated to Sobek and Horus the Elder, which feels both strange and impressive at the same time. Then you finally reach Aswan, where you can tour the pretty Temple of Philae, see the massive High Dam, and catch the scenic beauty of the Nile’s southern entrance.
